SAP QM is also referred to as software quality management. It provides a systematic approach to monitoring and improving the quality of software products. This is a tool for managing the quality of application software in a planned and controlled way.

Further, it ensures that all the business processes are carried out in the right way by using standards, procedures, and metrics. It encompasses all the activities that ensure that business processes are carried out in a predictable and repeatable manner.

QM is an integrated set of activities that help in ensuring that business processes are carried out in a planned, controlled, and repeatable manner.

Its three main goals are to:

  • make sure that there is a high degree of conformance to standards and procedures.
  • ensure that there are no defects or errors in the application being developed.
  • ensure that any defects or errors in development are detected at the earliest possible stage.

Further, QM plays an important role in ensuring that there is high conformance to standards, procedures, and metrics, thereby ensuring customer satisfaction and achieving customer satisfaction levels.

Then, QM is also used for detecting any defects or errors at the earliest possible stage and tracking them until it gets rectified using corrective actions which help in meeting customer expectations, thereby ensuring customer retention.

SAP QM: Things to Note

QM is not just about complying with customer requirements. But it also involves going beyond what customers expect from us by providing them with added value services such as faster delivery, innovative solutions, etc.

This, then, helps us achieve customer loyalty. QM activities are not limited to one department or one project but they cover the entire SDLC (software development life cycle). Since it is not possible to have zero defects in any software project, we should have monitoring systems. So that we can find defects at early stages and take corrective measures before its effect becomes too big on our project’s deliverables or our organization’s reputation.

Further, SAP implements QM to ensure that there is no compromise on product quality, customer satisfaction levels. As well as time is taken to deliver product/services to our customers.

Many factors contribute towards achieving this goal. Such as proper planning, an effective monitoring system for quality, effective testing of the product, etc.

Final Thoughts

Thus, QM is not just about complying with customer requirements. It is about going beyond what customers expect from us by providing them with added value services such as faster delivery, innovative solutions, etc. This, then, helps us achieve customer loyalty.

As a result, it is important to ensure that we have quality management at all times. And this is achieved by implementing QM in our organization.
