SAP announced recently the expansion of SAP-certified solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS), including the SAP Business One application that works with and is powered by the SAP HANA platform.
The pay-as-you go, subscription-based application will run on Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, and will come at no additional cost to existing customers who own SAP software licenses.
In addition, SAP partners using AWS have access to the developer edition of SAP Business One, version for SAP HANA. This provides an easy way for SAP users to begin development and porting of add-on solutions and other application extensions for the powered by SAP HANA version of SAP Business One.
We definitely see a strong Cloud effort on behalf of SAP. A few months ago, SAP announced a partnership with Microsoft that would make many of its business solutions available through Azure, Microsoft’s cloud platform.
This announcement provides small and midsize enterprise (SME) customers the flexibility to rapidly deploy SAP solutions on the scalable, on-demand AWS Cloud without the need for making long-term commitments or costly capital expenditures for underlying infrastructure.
I found the quote from Vision33 about their experience with SAP and AWS especially interesting. Alex Rooney, vice president of Vision33 Explained that this SAP AWS combination allows Vision33 to further expand their cloud strategy and provide their customers a combination of high-performance ERP on an industry-leading cloud platform. Does this mark the big cloud breakthrough for SAP’s ecosystem? Interesting to follow…
