What Are Sap Onboarding Features?
The SAP onboarding features aim to help you evaluate the functionalities of your new SAP system. These features are available depending on your entry point.
The key purpose of these features is to help you learn the new system and its functionalities. And also to enable you to complete the required setup for your new SAP system.
1. Setup
The setup feature is available in S/4HANA, S/4HANA Cloud, and S/4HANA Finance and Operations. This feature helps in completing the initial setup for your new system. For example, it helps with configuring the local server and loading the initial data onto the system.
2. Get Started
The get started feature is available in S/4HANA and S/4HANA Cloud. It helps you to have a quick start with the system. By using this feature, you can quickly create an order, invoice, or service.
You can also set up your transactional data transfer. And also set up your initial data import.
3. Resources
Resources are available in S/4HANA Finance & Operations and SAP ERP Central Component (ECC).
It help the user in the creation of various resources of the system like:
- Countries,
- Currencies,
- Customers,
- suppliers, and materials.
4. Master Data
Master data is available in SAP Business One (B1) and S/4HANA. It helps in the entry of the master data like the following:
- Companies,
- Contacts,
- Customers,
- B2B partners,
- Materials, and Customers.
5. Customizing Onboarding Features
SAP onboarding features are disabled by default. You can enable it by going to the system administrator. And then navigate to Security | Setup | System Administration | System Settings | General Settings.
Then enable the corresponding features in the list of features. If you want to enable more than one feature, then enable them together.
After enabling the features, you need to restart your system. For example SAP ERP Central Component (ECC) or S/4HANA Finance & Operations.

6. SAP Onboarding for HR System – Overview and Demo
In this section, you will get an overview and demo of how to use HR onboarding in a S/4HANA system. You will learn about the following topics:
HR Onboardings in S/4HANA systems
1: Open the SAP Onboarding for HR Demo Screen
Log in to your SAP system and then click on the following link: “https://demo-hr.sap-ag.de” and then select START TEST SYSTEM
2: Open the Application Tab and Click the “HR” Tab.
3: Click “New Employee” to enter a new employee.
4: Enter the basic information of the new employee. Such as “Employee ID”, “Name”, and “Job Category”.
5: Click on “Job Category” and then click on the corresponding Job category in the dialog box (Figure 2).
6: Click on “Employee Type” and then click on the corresponding employee type in the dialog box.
7: Read the first message and then click on “Ok” to confirm and close it.
8: Read the next message, and then click on “Close” to confirm and close it.
9: Enter other information like employee number, mobile number, email address, etc.
10: Click “Next” to continue with entering more information about your new employee.
11: Click on “Search for a Person” to search for a person in your system (Figure 3).
12: Select the person who has responsibility for this new employee.
13: Review your entry and then click on “Next” to continue with entering more information about your new employee.
14: Enter more details about your new employee like their job functions, skill area, etc.
15. Click on “Close” when you are done entering information about your new employee
16. Your new HR system will automatically suggest you check all names entered for each field entered to ensure that they are spelled correctly.
